Britannia Implements First Aseptic PET Line for Dairy Beverages

Global packaging solutions provider Sidel has successfully delivered Britannia Industries Limited’s first aseptic PET packaging line. This marks a significant step in Britannia's expansion into the dairy beverages market under its Winkin’ Cow brand.

The aseptic PET line, installed at Britannia’s facility in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, is designed to enhance the shelf life and safety of dairy drinks. Sidel's Aseptic Combi Predis solution, a core component of the line, operates at a capacity of 24,000 bottles per hour, integrating preform sterilisation, blow moulding, filling, and capping into a single process. This setup reduces contamination risks and extends the shelf life of the products.

The technology incorporates Predis™ dry preform decontamination, which uses hydrogen peroxide to sterilise preforms without water, thereby reducing environmental impact. This aligns with Britannia's goals to meet stringent food safety standards while maintaining sustainability.

Furthermore, the packaging line offers operational flexibility, allowing rapid adjustments between different pack sizes from 180 ml to 1 litre. This adaptability supports multiple SKUs, catering to diverse consumer preferences and expanding Britannia's market reach.

The implementation of the aseptic PET line strengthens Britannia's ability to distribute Winkin’ Cow beverages nationwide, offering safe, shelf-stable options. This project underscores the growing importance of aseptic PET technology in India's dairy beverage industry, emphasizing food safety and cost efficiency.
