The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh has developed its 70-acre dairy farm into a significant hub for both educational and research activities in the field of livestock management. Established shortly after the university itself, the farm has evolved to include modern practices and facilities.

Currently, the farm is home to approximately 270 animals, including 70 dairy cows, 120 calves, 31 cows in reproductive rest, and 49 buffaloes. The facility features improved cattle breeds such as Holstein Friesian, Jersey, Shahiwal, and Red Chittagong, alongside Murrah, Nili-Ravi, and indigenous buffalo breeds. On average, the farm produces 380 liters of milk each day, distributing it to university staff, students, and local residents at the price of Taka 75 per kilogram. Additionally, it produces dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and ghee.

The farm plays a crucial role in the practical training of students from the Department of Dairy Science, offering hands-on experience in animal nutrition, milk production, disease prevention, and reproductive management. Research efforts at the farm focus on increasing milk yield, improving animal health, and enhancing disease control measures.

Regular vaccination and deworming programs are in place to maintain animal health, targeting diseases such as anthrax, foot-and-mouth disease, and lumpy skin disease. The farm's feed management practices support the overall well-being and productivity of the livestock.

Graduate student Tamanna emphasized the importance of the practical learning platform provided by the farm, while Md. Abdur Rahman, a postgraduate student, highlighted the facility's research potential in improving cattle breeds and milk quality. Dr. AKM Masum, an executive member of the farm, noted the success of their graduates in the field, both domestically and internationally, while advocating for increased funding and modern technologies to further enhance research and education programs.
