Baladna Expands into Algeria with Major Dairy and Milk Powder Production Projects
Baladna Trading and Investment W.L.L., a subsidiary of Baladna Q.P.S.C., has signed a key shareholder agreement with the Algerian National Investment Fund, marking a major development in Qatar-Algeria collaboration. The agreement, signed on September 19, 2024, sets the stage for the establishment of one of the largest integrated dairy and milk powder production facilities in southern Algeria, aimed at bolstering the region's agricultural sector.
In addition, Baladna has entered into a cooperation agreement with Algeria’s Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production to explore the feasibility of an infant milk production project, further diversifying its operations. The new projects are expected to significantly contribute to Algeria’s food security, reducing reliance on imports and meeting growing domestic demand for dairy products.
Baladna will maintain a 51% stake in the ventures, while the Algerian National Investment Fund will hold the remaining 49%, ensuring a collaborative effort to boost the country’s dairy production capabilities.
