Arla’s nutrition brands powered a strong first half

Arla’s revenue increased from €7.5bn in the first half of 2025 to €7.6bn in the latest six-month period. Net profit rose to €213m from €158m. The figures were recorded despite a 24% reduction in the cooperative’s performance price for milk.

Management said the lower milk price weighed on revenue, while growth in Arla’s brands compensated for that effect. Revenue from the branded business, measured on a volume basis, increased by 6.7%. That followed a 1.5% decline in the first half of 2025.

The company identified the UK and Sweden as particularly strong markets during the period. Its nutrition-oriented sub-brands also recorded substantial volume increases. Sales volumes for Arla Skyr grew by 39.6%, while Arla Protein recorded growth of 25.1% compared with the first half of 2025.

Arla Protein was specifically highlighted by management as one of the main contributors to the period’s performance. The company said demand from consumers for dairy protein supported its branded sales. Those sales helped produce what management described as one of Arla’s strongest half-year performances to date.

Peter Tuborgh, Arla’s chief executive, said that high milk availability had reduced prices across the dairy sector. “This is the market doing what it should. High milk availability has brought prices down across the sector, and that is the reality our owners are navigating right now, but a lower milk price does not mean a weaker cooperative,” he said.

“Our brands are growing, our business is efficient, and we remain highly competitive. That is what gives me confidence that Arla remains a strong and reliable home for our owners’ milk,” Mr Tuborgh added.
