Arla and Leeds Rhinos Launch Nutritional Programme for Local Children

A renewed partnership between Arla Foods and Leeds Rhinos Foundation is set to benefit hundreds of children in Leeds through a relaunch of the '10 Steps to Good Nutrition' programme. The initiative aims to promote healthier lifestyles by offering practical advice on nutrition, hydration, and physical activity.

The programme will be implemented in community clubs across Leeds, with 20 interactive school assemblies planned. These sessions will be conducted by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation with support from Arla employees. Ronnie the Rhino, the mascot of Leeds Rhinos, will also make appearances to engage children in a fun and educational manner.

Danny Micklethwaite, VP of marketing for Arla Foods, stated: 'At Arla, we believe everyone should have access to nutritious, high-quality food and understand the role it plays in staying healthy. As a business with strong roots in Leeds, we're proud to be working with Leeds Rhinos Foundation to support children and families across Leeds in building healthier habits that can last a lifetime.'

A recent 'Plate of the Nation' report by Arla highlighted that 76% of children acknowledge the importance of healthy eating, but less than half find it easy to maintain a healthy diet. To address this, Arla is committed to providing young people with the necessary knowledge and access to nutritious food.

Ben Berry, Partnerships and Project Manager at Leeds Rhinos Foundation, emphasized the importance of the programme: 'By giving community clubs the tools to promote good nutrition, we can help create positive habits from a young age. Through our partnership with Arla, we’ve relaunched the 10 Steps to Good Nutrition programme, encouraging clubs to make simple, achievable pledges that support healthier environments for young people.'

As part of these efforts, Arla will supply local sports clubs with dairy products and collaborate on workshops with Leeds Rhinos nutritionists and public health teams. During sports events at AMT Headingley Stadium, over 150 children will receive Arla Big Milk 250ml during half-time to emphasize the significance of nutrition in active lifestyles.

This programme is part of broader initiatives across Leeds aimed at improving public health and supporting young people in developing healthier habits for the future.
