Arla Foods Appoints New Head to Boost UK Foodservice Channel
Arla Foods has announced the appointment of Matthew Walker as the head of its UK Foodservice business, a strategic move aimed at accelerating growth across one of its key channels. As of January 2026, Walker will lead the division, which is recognized for supplying milk, butter, and cheese to various sectors including restaurants and coffee shops through the Arla Pro brand.
The appointment comes at a time when Arla's UK Foodservice division is experiencing strong growth. In the first half of 2025, the division achieved a remarkable year-on-year revenue growth of 15%, which amounts to €29 million (£24 million). Additionally, the strategic branded, volume-driven revenue in this sector increased by 7.6%. These figures highlight the channel's growth potential as Arla continues to invest in innovation and strengthen customer partnerships.
Walker, who has been with Arla for 14 years, brings a wealth of experience fr om various senior roles in commercial, marketing, and brand development. His most recent role was as head of marketing for Arla Sweden, wh ere he contributed significantly to brand strengthening and category growth.
Bas Padberg, managing director of Arla Foods UK, expressed enthusiasm about Walker's appointment, stating, "Matthew’s appointment is a great step forward for our UK business." Walker himself remarked on the dynamic nature of the foodservice sector and expressed excitement about future innovations and milestones.
In his new role, Walker will focus on expanding Arla’s foodservice customer base and developing strategic partnerships. This includes sustainability initiatives and new product innovation, such as the company's mozzarella expansion at the Taw Valley site. Leadership development remains a central theme at Arla, aligning with its cooperative model aimed at driving growth and value for its farmer owners.
