Arla Foods and XPO Logistics Enhance UK Chilled Distribution Network

Arla Foods and XPO Logistics are working together on a new distribution facility at Prologis’ RFI DIRFT scheme in the East Midlands, aimed at overhauling Arla's UK chilled distribution network. This new national central distribution center, currently under construction, will manage all of Arla’s UK chilled palletised products. The consolidation of activities that were previously spread across multiple sites is expected to enhance supply chain resilience, reduce transportation miles, and improve overall operational efficiency.

XPO Logistics is not only overseeing the delivery of this project but will also operate the site once it becomes fully operational in late 2027. This facility will be automated and temperature-controlled, integrating the distribution of cheese, butter, and yoghurt under one roof to streamline operations.

The building is being constructed to meet high environmental standards, achieving BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ ratings, ensuring that the facility is energy efficient and sustainable. This development represents a significant investment in enhancing the logistics capabilities of Arla Foods within the UK market.
