The Al Wathba Livestock Festival will run until January 28, as part of the Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award pavilion at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.
 Al Wathba Livestock Festival Kicks Off in Abu Dhabi

This marks the fourth festival accompanying the award’s third cycle, held under the theme “Innovative Farmers and Breeders with a Sustainable Vision.” The event aims to promote innovation in livestock farming and encourage sustainable practices across the sector.


Festival Highlights and Competitions

The festival features three major competitions to encourage livestock breeders and improve farming practices, along with seven auctions showcasing top breeds. The competitions include:

  1. Best Weight Competition
    This category motivates breeders to achieve optimal livestock weight for locally raised breeds. It includes seven categories, with cash prizes totaling 406,000 AED for the top five winners in each category.

  2. Milk Production Competition
    Focused on encouraging the breeding of high milk-yielding sheep and promoting dairy production, this competition also consists of seven categories with total prizes of 406,000 AED.

  3. Best Breeds Competition
    This category highlights breeds that are highly productive, disease-resistant, and adapted to desert climates. It is the largest competition in terms of categories and prizes, offering 2.722 million AED across 36 categories and races, rewarding 180 winners.


Encouraging Sustainability and Development

Ahmed Khalid Othman, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Award, stated that the festival aims to:

  • Encourage breeders to adopt the best-producing livestock breeds.
  • Showcase excellent practices in livestock farming.
  • Promote the establishment of new projects and the expansion of existing livestock ventures.

He also invited breeders to participate in the festival’s competitions to enhance their expertise, learn about the latest practices, and compete for valuable prizes.

The Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award continues its participation in the Sheikh Zayed Festival through organizing five major festivals, comprising 87 competitions and seven auctions. This reflects the award's commitment to advancing the agricultural and livestock sectors in the UAE
