Akshayakalpa Organic expands its high-protein dairy range
Bengaluru-based Akshayakalpa Organic has added High Protein Dahi to its portfolio and introduced two flavored milk products, Coffee and Kesar Elaichi. The launch expands a functional dairy range that already includes ultrafiltered plain milk and protein paneer.
The flavored milks are priced at ₹110. They are described as lactose-free, low-fat and antibiotic-free, with no added sugar, artificial stabilizers or synthetic powders. Akshayakalpa said the products are distributed through its proprietary mobile application and dedicated refrigerated delivery network in five metropolitan markets: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune.
Founder and chief executive Shashi Kumar said protein was important to a balanced diet but that consumers often found it difficult to meet their daily requirements. The company presents the new products as a convenient, clean-label option built around familiar Indian dairy formats.
The products are made using membrane-filtration technology. Akshayakalpa uses ultrafiltration equipment to process organic milk and concentrate its natural casein and whey proteins while removing water and part of the lactose. The flavored variants combine concentrated organic milk with brewed coffee extract or real saffron and cardamom. Their production requires controlled pasteurisation and homogenisation in the absence of industrial stabilisers.
High Protein Dahi requires controlled addition of lactic cultures and regulated incubation to produce a dense curd structure. The product is transported through the cold chain at 4°C. The company’s broader supply model is based on rural hubs in southern India and partnerships with smallholder farmers following organic practices, including chemical-free fodder cultivation and the exclusion of prophylactic antibiotics and synthetic growth hormones.
Akshayakalpa’s expansion comes as Indian dairy companies compete in the high-protein category. Amul, Country Delight and Epigamia have introduced protein-rich curds, Greek yoghurts and fortified milks. Akshayakalpa links its products to certified organic sourcing, non-GMO feeding practices and the absence of synthetic preservatives. The company has also set a target of exceeding ₹550 crore in annual turnover and is using its metropolitan delivery network to sell higher-value dairy products alongside its core milk business.
