Akshayakalpa Organic, a leading organic dairy firm, has infused ₹15 crore into establishing a new milk sourcing ecosystem near Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. The investment is geared towards meeting the growing demand for organic food in Chennai and expanding the company's presence in the region.

The newly established ecosystem includes a network of 100 organic farmers, chilling centers of varying capacities, and a state-of-the-art milk processing center at Pooriyampakkam village near Chengalpattu. This facility, with a processing capacity of 40,000 liters daily, marks Akshayakalpa's second processing unit.
Shashi Kumar, CEO & Co-Founder of Akshayakalpa Farms & Foods, shared insights into the company's four-year effort to develop the ecosystem in Tamil Nadu. The engagement involved onboarding farmers, providing comprehensive support in farm design, financing, veterinary services, and more. The farmers produce organic milk, which is stored in chilling facilities and processed at the new center, resulting in milk, curd, and paneer for the Chennai market.
Currently securing around 4,000 liters daily from the existing farmers, the company aims to increase production capacity to 15,000-20,000 liters daily within the next year. The expansion plan involves increasing the number of farmers and enhancing the scale of existing farms.
With the new sourcing system and processing unit, Akshayakalpa aims to meet the entire Chennai demand locally, replacing its earlier reliance on the facility in Tiptur, Karnataka. The company, currently the largest supplier of organic milk in Chennai, serves markets in South Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, with a customer base exceeding 60,000. Additionally, Akshayakalpa sells long-shelf products in Pune, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region.
In FY23, the company reported revenue of ₹195 crore and anticipates closing the current fiscal year with revenue reaching approximately ₹300 crore. The strategic investment aligns with Akshayakalpa's commitment to sustainable and organic practices, catering to the increasing consumer demand for organic dairy products in the region.
