AI-Driven Cow Collars Revolutionize Indian Dairy Farming
The Connected Cow Collar, an advanced biometric wearable, is transforming dairy farming in India through continuous monitoring of cattle. This IoT device tracks crucial biophysical indicators such as physical activity, body temperature, rumination, and micro-movement patterns. Data from the collars is aggregated via localized village LoRaWAN networks, supporting up to 2,000 devices per gateway over an 8-to-10-kilometer range.
This technology allows for early and predictive detection of diseases like mastitis, foot-and-mouth disease, and lumpy skin disease, long before clinical symptoms appear. Machine learning algorithms analyze behavioral baselines to flag potential health issues, redefining veterinary risk management.
Beyond health monitoring, the collars integrate GPS and geofencing capabilities, providing real-time location data to farmers' mobile applications. This feature helps prevent the anxiety and financial losses associated with missing or wandering livestock.
To further support farmers, the platform has introduced CowGPT, a generative AI conversational assistant available on WhatsApp. CowGPT operates in multiple Indian languages, offering instant, customized agronomic guidance on cattle nutrition, veterinary care, and breeding optimization. This tool ensures farmers receive timely artificial insemination alerts to enhance pregnancy success rates.
By bridging the digital divide in rural communities, these innovations are providing smallholders with continuous access to specialized dairy expertise, greatly enhancing their productivity and operational efficiency.
