Accrington Market will install Threlfall’s milkshake vending machine

Accrington Market has reached an agreement with Threlfall’s Farm Dairies, a family-owned dairy business operating from Holt Farm in Rishton and Whin Isle Farm in Clayton-le-Moors. The partnership will bring a vending machine selling fresh milk, milkshakes and smoothies to the market.

The new section will include seating and an interactive display centred on a large cow that children can use for a milking activity. Smoothie options will include mixed berry, strawberry and banana, and tropical flavours.

Threlfall’s Farm Dairies is run by the fifth generation of the Threlfall family, with Paul and Kirsty Threlfall managing the business. The farms milk 200 cows twice each day. The company bottles its own milk and supplies local milkmen who make doorstep deliveries.

Town Centre Venues Manager Paul Fox helped arrange the partnership. He said he had known the dairy through the industry and was aware that it had been considering a milkshake vending machine. “We love local, and local produce is a real passion of mine,” Mr Fox said, adding that he was pleased to bring the machine to Accrington Market.

Paul Threlfall said the business was pleased to participate in the reopening of the market and to offer its milk, milkshakes and smoothies to visitors. Hyndburn Borough Council’s portfolio holder for transformation and town centres, Councillor Clare Pritchard, said the council was in the final stages of fitting out the renovated market and that further traders would be announced.

The renovated Accrington Market is scheduled to reopen in November. The vending machine will be among the new additions planned for the market.
