Five Regions in Ukraine Provide 55% of Milk Production
The dairy industry in Ukraine continues its structural transformation: production is increasingly shifting to the industrial segment, while household farms are reducing their market participation. According to the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine and the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, as of February 2026, key production volumes are concentrated in a limited number of regions.
In February 2026:
- 397.6 thousand tons of raw milk were produced
- Decrease from January — -5.6%
- Decrease from February 2025 — -9.4%
The structure of the industry is changing:
- Agricultural enterprises — 63% of production (249.6 thousand tons)
- Household farms — 37% (148 thousand tons)
Key trend:
- Enterprises showed a growth of +4.3% year-over-year
- Households — a sharp decline of -25.8% year-over-year
This confirms the accelerating transition of the industry to an industrial production model.
About 55% of all raw milk is provided by five regions:
- Poltava region — 76.4 thousand tons
- Cherkasy region — 64.3 thousand tons
- Khmelnytskyi region — 49.5 thousand tons
- Vinnytsia region — 48.5 thousand tons
- Chernihiv region — 47.3 thousand tons
Despite the overall decline, several regions showed significant production growth:
- Rivne region — +29%
- Lviv region — +16%
- Kharkiv region — +16%
- Ivano-Frankivsk region — +15%
- Ternopil region — +14%
