The facility, located in Bharuch, Gujarat, is positioned to serve as a large-scale production hub, addressing the growing global demand for sustainable food ingredients. Designed with future scalability in mind, the project includes additional provisions for land and infrastructure to support potential expansions.

While the investment details remain undisclosed, the company announced that the facility’s production capacity is already substantially pre-booked, demonstrating strong market interest in fermentation-based dairy proteins.

TM Narayan, CEO of Perfect Day Inc., emphasized the project’s transformative potential: “This facility represents a major milestone in reshaping the global food industry. By utilizing precision fermentation technology, we are creating high-quality dairy proteins without the environmental impact of traditional methods. It is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and innovation, setting new global standards in responsible production.”

Perfect Day’s precision-fermented dairy proteins have gained recognition in various applications, including ice creams, sports nutrition, and baked goods.

Shayri Roychoudhury, Chief Business Operations Officer at Perfect Day, highlighted the facility’s global impact: “This facility will produce sustainable, planet-friendly dairy proteins tailored to meet diverse consumer needs worldwide. Its advanced production methods will address key challenges in the food and beverage industry while promoting sustainability.”

Zydus Lifesciences acquired a 50% stake in Sterling Biotech in August 2024, strengthening its position in sustainable food solutions. This collaboration aligns with the broader industry shift towards environmentally friendly production practices, enabling the development of high-quality, scalable alternatives to traditional dairy proteins.
