New York Dairy Company Plans Big, $120M Expansion

Byrne Dairy, a New York-based dairy cooperative located in Syracuse, has unveiled plans for a significant expansion of its manufacturing facility in Cortlandville, with a projected investment of $120 million. The move is set to create roughly 250 new jobs, a welcome boost to the local economy, and will be executed over four phases of development.

In plans submitted to the Cortlandville Planning Board, the upcoming Phase 2A of the expansion includes adding 26,000 square feet of production space and three new stainless-steel silos to the facility. Execution of this phase is expected to be completed within six months following the approval of the plans.

Subsequently, Phase 2B will add another 75,000 square feet of new production area, enhancing manufacturing capacity significantly. Logistics improvements are also planned, with the construction of a dedicated truck access road aimed at easing transportation operations.

The project's completion with Phases 3 and 4 is designed to deliver an impressive over 150,000 square feet of new processing and batching space. Depending on economic conditions, these phases should be finalized within twelve months of beginning construction, offering a further investment of $86 million.
