Milma Increases Milk Prices for Farmers by Rs 15 Per Liter

Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) announced a Rs 15 per liter increase in the procurement price of milk from its affiliated farmers during its annual general body meeting on Thursday.
The price hike will bring the procurement price to Rs 59.98 per liter, with Rs 10 allocated to the farmers, Rs 3 to the cooperative societies, and Rs 2 to the farmers' share in the Union.
The meeting, chaired by Milma Chairman Mani Viswanath, also introduced a Rs 200 per bag subsidy on cattle feed and approved a revenue budget of Rs 1,474 crore and a capital budget of Rs 52 crore for the 2024-25 financial year. Additionally, amendments to certain TRCMPU rules were also approved.
This marks the largest increase in procurement prices in Milma’s history, with Rs 13 crore set aside for the price adjustment. The meeting was attended by representatives from 831 milk cooperative societies affiliated with TRCMPU.
