In a significant move, the Maharashtra government has declared a subsidy of Rs 5 per litre for milk producers, set to be enforced over the next two months. Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, the State Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister, made this announcement in the legislative assembly.

The subsidy will be extended to milk producers supplying to cooperative dairies. Minister Vikhe Patil stated that the subsidy initiative, applicable for the initial two months of the upcoming year, aims to support milk producers who currently sell their milk to dairies at a rate of Rs 29 per litre.

The mechanism involves depositing the calculated amount based on the Rs 29 per litre milk price directly into the bank accounts of milk producers. Subsequently, the government will transfer the designated subsidy amount to the same accounts.

This strategic subsidy initiative by the Maharashtra government is anticipated to provide vital financial relief to milk producers during the specified period.
