The award was presented to Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman of WAMUL Management Committee, and SB Bose, Managing Director, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Gujarat.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended WAMUL's achievement of transitioning to 100% bank transfers and providing livelihood to around 30,000 dairy farmers across nine districts of Assam. He emphasized India's global leadership in milk production, with a 24% share, and highlighted a 51% increase in milk production over the past eight years.

SB Bose expressed that the award reflected Purabi Dairy's collective efforts and reiterated the cooperative's commitment to empowering the farming community and contributing to the sustainable growth of the cooperative sector.

Purabi Dairy, the largest dairy cooperative in the northeast region, not only provides dairy products to consumers but also offers value-added products and conducts workshops to train farmers in activities like bee-keeping and honey harvesting to enhance their income.

WAMUL, established in 1976, operates as a cooperative of cattle-rearers and milk producers in Assam. The cooperative has a fully automated processing unit with a daily capacity of 60,000 liters. The award ceremony was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Assembly Speaker Shankar Choudhary, IFFCO Chairman Dilip Sanghani, and NCDFI Chairman Mangal Rai.
