Zom Dairy wins Global Design award at TOP/COM 2026 in Paris
The awards ceremony was held on November 5 at the Collège des Bernardins. Competition documents placed Zom among the recipients in Global Design, alongside entries from Bonduelle, Domaine Mira Luna and the Office de Tourisme des Contrées Vertes. The competition’s rules provide an award for each listed entry; decisions on Gold, Silver, Bronze and the overall Grand Prix are made separately.
Abdulaziz Sherwani, Zom’s chief executive, told Kurdistan24 that TOP/COM recognises consumer communication work covering advertising, product introductions, brand identity, packaging and customer engagement. The programme also covers public relations and digital projects. Global Design and Packaging have their own categories. For the 2026 competition, jurors reviewed recorded entry presentations before conducting their final deliberations. The ceremony assembled winning companies and creative agencies from across the programme.
Zom purchases fresh cow’s milk from farmers and livestock breeders in the Kurdistan Region for processing in the Barzan area. Sherwani described an operation connecting animal husbandry with collection and dairy manufacturing. The resulting products include drinking milk, yogurt, cheese, yogurt-based drinks and cream, sold in a variety of pack sizes and flavours. The company’s plant is in Zhazhok village, in Mergasor district.
According to Zom’s figures, its collection network comprises 28 centres in different locations. These provide delivery points nearer to livestock producers, shortening journeys and lowering the cost of taking perishable milk to a processing plant. Regular purchases give suppliers a more predictable sales outlet. Sherwani said the arrangement was designed to offer breeders a steady income, avoiding the need to seek separate buyers for each day’s milk.
The company says more than 3,367 farmers have benefited directly from the project and that it employs over 400 people. In spring 2026, milk deliveries through the collection centres reached nearly 40 tons a day. Farmers supply the centres from villages, linking the rural collection network to the company’s processing operations and its range of finished dairy products.
Zom was established in 2020. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani formally inaugurated the business on May 30, 2023. Its collaboration with Team Creatif was entered into the French competition under the title “Zom: du bon lait, du bien commun”. The design work concerned the identity and presentation of a locally produced dairy brand to consumers beyond its home region.
