Zevia, which sells soda positioned as a healthier option, intends to use the funding to broaden its product range and extend distribution. Abbott's planned separation covers its nutrition operations, including Ensure and Pedialyte. The company said the move would address rising demand for functional nutrition.

The facility involving Danone and PurposeEnergy will process waste from yogurt manufacturing into renewable energy. The partnership comes as Danone increases production in response to demand for yogurt with a high protein content.

The financing newsletter also featured Rocana Venture Partners, an American venture-capital firm investing exclusively in consumer brands. Its remit covers health and wellness, sustainability, and food and drinks positioned as healthier choices.

Rocana's investment interests include wellness for the mind and body, foods emphasising their ingredients and clean-label credentials, and functional or healthier beverages. Its portfolio includes OliPOP, a prebiotic soda marketed around digestive health, and Kettle & Fire, whose products include slowly simmered bone broth.

Other portfolio companies include Hu Chocolate, a chocolate brand positioned as clean and suitable for paleo diets, and WTRMLN WTR. The latter makes a plant-based drink using watermelons described as “ugly”.

The newsletter's editor, Shelly Malik, placed the corporate developments alongside Americans' concerns about affordability ahead of the midterm elections. Food-price inflation has prompted anxiety and shifts in buying habits as consumers seek savings. Consumer-price figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, released in October, recorded a 2.5% increase in food prices over the year to September 2026.
