Yakult Appoints Joe Gailani to Lead Sales Growth in UK and Ireland
Yakult has appointed Joe Gailani as the national sales manager for the UK & Ireland to spearhead the next phase of the company’s commercial growth. His primary objectives will include enhancing retailer partnerships and broadening Yakult’s distribution across key channels.
Gailani joins Yakult with a strong background in the commercial sector, having led the commercial agenda at Cotswold Fayre. He has developed growth strategies and managed relationships across various retail and wholesale accounts. Gailani's career includes senior roles at Bonraw Foods and Unilever, with a focus on health, wellness, and functional food categories.
One of the milestones in his career has been securing listings with major retailers such as Morrisons, Ocado, Musgrave, Asda, and Holland & Barrett. His appointment at Yakult is timely, as the company aims to leverage its heritage and further opportunities in the area of gut health.
Joe Gailani expressed his enthusiasm about joining Yakult, citing the brand's strong reputation and the existing opportunities for growth. He aims to strengthen customer relationships and ensure that Yakult adapts to retailer priorities to support sustainable growth.
Shinji Yamaguchi, managing director at Yakult UK & Ireland, emphasized the significance of Gailani’s appointment, highlighting his commercial experience and its alignment with Yakult’s aspirations. Gailani’s expertise is expected to be key in enhancing partnerships, opening new market routes, and supporting Yakult’s long-term objectives.
Gailani will also collaborate closely with Yakult Europe’s new R&D team to facilitate future product development. His appointment is part of a wider investment in the UK & Ireland commercial and communications teams planned for 2026, targeting enhancements in sales, marketing, digital, and public relations to bolster Yakult’s market presence and growth plans.
