World Jersey Enthusiasts to Visit Australia

Jersey farmers and enthusiasts from four continents will converge on Australia in April for the 2025 World Jersey Conference. This significant event will make its return to Australian soil for the first time since 2011, promising a three-week tour that will draw participants from countries including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Jersey Islands, South Africa, and Colombia.
The tour is set to commence in Melbourne on April 6, concluding in Sydney on April 22. Attendees will traverse various regions, including the Gippsland, south-west and northern areas of Victoria, as well as the NSW south coast. Glen Barrett, the general manager of Jersey Australia, assured that the visitors will witness some of the world’s finest Jersey herds. "I think everyone will be impressed by the Australian Jersey and the Australian hospitality," Mr Barrett stated.
The itinerary includes the 63rd annual Central Gippsland Jersey Fair, visits to the Ellinbank SmartFarm, Burra Foods, Total Livestock Genetics, Agribio research facility, and the prestigious Jersey Elite Awards among other engagements. Key themes of the conference will encompass insights into regenerative farming benefits provided by Jersey cows, and presentations by notable individuals like young scientist Mikayla Crouch, who recently received the Australian Dairy Youth Travel Scholarship.
The event is happening at a time when Jerseys are gaining more traction in Australia’s dairy market, with national herd data showing an increase to 17.4% over the last decade. The conference, backed by sponsors like Genetics Australia and Zoetis, aims to build on this momentum.
The World Jersey Cattle Bureau, which represents Jersey breeders globally, organizes these conferences across five world regions, with events held since 1949.
