Wheatlands Farm Seeks Expansion to Accommodate Growing Dairy Herd
Icke Partners Ltd has submitted a proposal to extend an agricultural building at Wheatlands Farm, located between Drakes Broughton and Pershore, to accommodate more cattle. The farm currently houses approximately 700 cattle, serving both dairy and beef sectors. The proposed extension aims to reduce reliance on rented livestock buildings at a nearby holding.
The Wychavon District Council is conducting a public consultation on the plans, which is scheduled to conclude on June 18. The extension is part of a natural expansion of Wheatlands Farm and its dairy and beef herds, according to the application. It will provide additional dry housing for livestock and facilities for storing hay, straw, and machinery.
At the time of the application, Wheatlands Farm has about 700 cattle within the dairy herd, including approximately 550 followers and 100 calves. Additionally, the farm manages around 280 beef cattle of various ages. The proposed development would enable the farm to house more livestock on its land and facilitate easier management by situating the animals closer to the main holding.
