Vladimir Putin Affirms Continued State Support for Farmers Amid Sanctions
Vladimir Putin congratulated workers in agriculture and the processing industry on their professional holiday. In a statement published on the Kremlin's website, the president asserted that the state will continue to provide necessary support to farmers.
According to Putin, both large enterprises and medium-sized companies and farming households are facing challenges. The statement cited sanctions, infrastructural and export barriers, and increased costs as causes.
The head of state stated that support will include assistance in resolving current issues related to fuel, transportation, and product sales. Special mention was made of ensuring agricultural producers have access to seeds.
One of the directions highlighted by the president was the development of the technological capabilities of the agri-industrial complex. This involves selection, genetics, seed production, and biotechnologies, as well as the use of modern agricultural equipment and digital solutions. Putin stated that increasing technological advancement should ensure the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector in the future.
The address also mentioned personnel training and attracting youth to agriculture. According to the president, the further development of the sector should rely on people willing to live and work in rural areas. Therefore, the authorities plan to focus on rural areas, villages, and small towns.
Among the tasks in this area, Putin listed providing comfortable housing, access to education and healthcare, as well as the modernization and construction of rural clubs, libraries, and sports facilities.
The president separately noted agricultural production indicators. He reported that a 'decent grain harvest' is expected this year, with the volume exceeding 100 million tons. He also mentioned that production levels for meat, milk, eggs, and several other types of products are at a good level.
