In Russia, cheese production increased by 3% in January–March 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching 210.2 thousand tons.

Meanwhile, the overall production of cheeses and cheese products decreased by 1.7%, amounting to 245.6 thousand tons. This decline is primarily due to a sharp reduction in the production of cheese products, which dropped by 22.9%, reaching 35.4 thousand tons.

Consumption of products in this category also showed a negative trend in January–February 2026. Compared to the same period in 2025, it decreased by 6.9%, down to 197.1 thousand tons.

Within the category, the situation varies. Cheese consumption remained almost stable, increasing by 0.2%, while consumption of cheese products decreased by 43.4%.

Amid weak demand, warehouse stocks remain elevated. Cheese stocks at dairy processing enterprises were 21% higher at the beginning of April compared to the same period last year, totaling 77.1 thousand tons.
