In October 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Alkanov Group company signed an investment agreement on the construction of the largest logistics complex in Central Asia - Batyr Logistics Center. Investments in the logo park in Kyrgyzstan will amount to $20 million.
For the construction of the Batyr Logistics Center facility, a land plot of 23.5 hectares was selected in the Alamudun district of the Chui region in Bishkek, not far from the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan. T
Technological logistics center with an area of more than 110 thousand square meters. m will include a multifunctional warehouse with vegetable storage, a customs terminal, and a dry storage area. Construction is planned to be carried out in three stages; within the first stage, the market and tenants will receive a multifunctional warehouse with an area of 30.2 thousand square meters. m, which provides a multi-temperature zone of 10 thousand square meters. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2025.
The second stage of the implementation of the logistics hub will be the customs terminal, where there will be a two-story customs building, two warehouse blocks, as well as administrative buildings.
As part of the third stage, a dry warehouse with an area of 60.4 thousand square meters will be built. m. To implement the project, at least 200 new jobs will be created.
In total, the investment project is designed for 10 years, the volume of investments in it will be $20 million.
“Russian retail is actively developing the Kyrgyz market, but the main obstacle remains the lack of infrastructure. The warehouse real estate market in Kyrgyzstan is at the initial stage of development: there are not enough high-quality warehouses. At the same time, the country is experiencing a boom in demand caused by global changes in supply chains and economic activity. Today, the actual volume of warehouse complexes in the republic is represented by several facilities, mainly class B, with a total area of about 60 thousand square meters. m.,” said Stanislav Akhmedzyanov, managing partner of IBC Global. — At the same time, to satisfy existing demand, about 140 - 160 thousand square meters are required. m of warehouse space already now, 350 thousand sq. m within three years, and by 2030 the market is capable of absorbing much more impressive volumes, millions in volumes.”
According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, the interest of foreign businesses in working in Kyrgyzstan is growing. Over the past five years, the number of enterprises with the participation of foreign investors has increased by 10.7%. There are over 3.5 thousand enterprises created by foreign investors or with their participation on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic. A third of them are joint. The rest are opened exclusively by citizens of other states at their own expense. Just over half of the enterprises with foreign capital (1,774) were created with the participation of business circles from the CIS countries. The rest (1742) are due to investments from foreign countries. The main trading partners are organizations and firms from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, the USA and Turkey.
The predominant share of enterprises with the participation of foreign capital falls on joint business projects with Russia (28.9%). China is in second place in terms of investment activity in the real sector of the economy (16.4%). In third place is Kazakhstan (14.7%). Another notable investor in Kyrgyzstan is Türkiye – 10.4%.
