USDA Forecast: More Dairy Cows, More Milk, What's Next

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released a forecast through its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, indicating a noteworthy rise in the nation’s dairy herd and milk production. This year's cattle numbers are expected to increase by 10,000, bringing the total to 8.765 million head. Moreover, the USDA has revised the milk output per cow upward by 5 pounds, now expecting an average yield of 24,530 pounds per cow. This projection suggests total U.S. milk production will reach 215.02 billion pounds for the year.
