US Dairy Exports Set Record at $9.65 Billion in 2022

In 2022, the United States exported dairy products to a record $9.65 billion. According to data from the United States Dairy Export Council (USDEC) within the framework of the World Dairy Summit held in Chicago from October 15 to 19, 2022, the year marked a record for U.S. dairy product exports.
According to the USDEC, in 2022, the United States exported 834,000 tons of skimmed milk powder, over 677,000 tons of dry whey, 451,000 tons of cheese, over 451,000 tons of lactose, over 81,000 tons of butter, as well as more than 601,000 tons of other dairy products, including fluid milk, milk protein concentrate, and other dairy products.
The total volume of exported products accounted for approximately 18% of the total volume of raw milk production in the United States.
The largest export markets for the United States are Mexico (123.6 thousand tons of cheese, 454 thousand tons of ingredients), Southeast Asia, including China (24.3 thousand tons of cheese, 531.4 thousand tons of ingredients), as well as China (4.9 thousand tons of cheese and 480 thousand tons of ingredients). Other important markets include Canada, Central and South America, Maghreb countries, South Korea, and Japan.
