US cheese production has experienced a notable 4.2% year-over-year increase in June, driven by a rise in manufacturing milk availability, according to USDA data.

The United States has witnessed a 4.2% year-over-year (YOY) rise in cheese production in June, reported by the USDA. This increase is attributed to a similar rise in the availability of manufacturing milk. The production of American cheese specifically grew by 4.8% YOY, while cheddar saw an impressive 8.3% increase. Additionally, varieties categorized as 'other cheese', such as mozzarella, also reported a 3.8% YOY increase. Although combined production of nonfat dry milk (NFDM) and skim milk powder (SMP) dropped by 1.4% YOY, SMP production fell a significant 21.7% whereas NFDM saw a 9.6% rise.
In a positive trend for butter, its production grew by 10.4% YOY, marking consecutive monthly increases since November 2023. Meanwhile, dry whey output slightly increased by 0.7%, and whey protein concentrate (WPC) experienced a 4.8% growth with WPC 50-89.9% output increasing 4.1% YOY. Contrarily, milk protein concentrate (MPC) production decreased by 10.2%, highlighting shifts in the dairy product market. In this context, the production landscape remains dynamic with variances across different dairy product categories, influenced by both domestic supply changes and global dairy market conditions.
