Uruguay's MGAP Implements New Dairy Industry Requirements

Uruguay's Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP) has introduced a comprehensive set of new requirements for establishments focusing on the reception, standardization, processing, and transformation of milk and dairy products. This regulation applies to both domestic and export-oriented industries.
The new requirements include the submission of notarial certifications of ownership, environmental and urban planning authorizations, building plans, process descriptive reports, a Good Manufacturing Practices Manual (GMP), and Standardized Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP).
Moreover, export-oriented industries must have their HACCP system approved and comply with specific regulations applicable in their product's destination markets. These measures aim to update the conditions for the authorization, modification, or expansion of dairy plants, thereby enhancing standards of transparency, hygienic control, and quality in industrial processes.
