United Dairy Farmers Appoints First Non-Family CEO in Historic Transition

United Dairy Farmers (UDF), a prominent Midwest dairy chain, has announced Michael Ahmed as its new CEO. This appointment marks the first time in the company's 85-year history that a non-family member will lead the organization. Brad Lindner, who served 47 years with UDF and 27 years as president and CEO, is retiring as part of a succession plan initiated in late 2024.

Michael Ahmed, who officially took over the CEO position earlier this month, brings extensive experience in consumer packaged goods and food manufacturing. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer at Gorilla Glue Company and has held leadership roles at Tyson Foods and Advanced Pierre Foods.

Under Lindner's leadership, UDF underwent over $25 million in capital investments, including significant upgrades to its Norwood ice cream manufacturing plant and the construction of a new family bakery facility. These developments, along with the renovation or construction of over 50 stores, underscore the company's growth momentum.

As the new CEO, Ahmed is expected to leverage these operational assets to expand UDF's geographic reach and market penetration. The Lindner family will maintain strategic oversight through the Board of Directors, ensuring a smooth transition and continued alignment with the company's values and community focus.

The change in leadership comes at a time when UDF is experiencing strong business momentum and consistent financial results, setting a stable foundation for Ahmed to drive the company's next chapter of growth.
