Ukrainian dairy producers are exploring the possibility of resuming full-scale dry milk exports to Japan, according to Arsen Didur, Executive Director of the Association of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (ADEU).
Ukrainian Dairy Producers Aim to Revive Dry Milk Exports to Japan

Previously, Ukrainian companies had supplied significant volumes of dry milk to Japan, but over time, trade relations weakened. In March 2021, Ukraine received permission to export dairy products to Japan once more. However, the current export volumes remain low.

Didur emphasized the need for Ukraine to diversify its markets beyond Europe due to global price fluctuations. He stated, "Japan could be an important alternative sales channel." Although Japan has its domestic milk production, climatic limitations and scarce pastures restrict its animal husbandry capacity, creating potential opportunities for imported dry milk.

The ADEU has shown interest in engaging with Japanese businesses to restore and possibly expand these export channels. This engagement could provide Ukrainian producers with a new avenue for growth, as they look to tap into the Japanese market.
