To enhance food security in Ukraine, particularly by improving access to quality and safe dairy products, Switzerland continues its humanitarian assistance to milk producers in the most affected regions for the third consecutive year.
Ukrainian Dairy Farms Receive Humanitarian Aid from Switzerland - Application Deadline Extended to February 19
As of January 2024, the recipients of the Swiss humanitarian project include 355 dairy farms in regions such as Dnipropetrovsk (26), Donetsk (6), Zaporizhzhia (2), Kyiv (78), Luhansk (0), Mykolaiv (12), Odesa (11), Sumy (59), Kharkiv (64), Kherson (2), and Chernihiv (95). The total livestock in recipient farms exceeds 350,000 head, including over 130,000 cows.

Farms in these regions not previously benefiting from Swiss humanitarian aid during the project's implementation period can still submit requests. Only dairy farms in the Kharkiv region can reapply. The registration form is accessible here: https://forms.gle/kVyGboHzStjEtTLUA.

Interested milk producers must complete the registration form by February 19 and receive confirmation of their request via email from the project.

Participation in the project requires the state registration of milk production capacities from cows in accordance with legislation. Requests will be accepted from applicants not conducting economic activities in temporarily occupied territories, Russian territory, or the Republic of Belarus, and not subject to sanctions under Ukrainian legislation.

The second phase of the Swiss-funded humanitarian aid project will run until May 31, 2024. Dairy producers can obtain funds for washing and disinfecting milking equipment, pre- and post-milking udder treatment, udder hygiene wipes, gloves, reagents for detecting latent mastitis, disinfectants for livestock premises, etc., sufficient for a three-month supply. This short-term support is expected to improve farmers' access to critical production tools and promote adherence to hygiene standards in primary milk production. Proper milking hygiene ensures the health and well-being of animals and directly influences the safety of dairy products, thereby safeguarding consumer health.

It is worth noting that the humanitarian project is implemented at the request of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine in collaboration with the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine, the International Charitable Foundation #SaveUA, and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, coordinated with the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
