The storm, which made landfall on Tuesday in Quang Ninh province, has been accompanied by torrential rains affecting much of the region.

Significant rainfall, surpassing 300 mm (11.8 inches), has been reported in several areas, leading to flash floods and landslides. These natural disasters have inflicted the most severe impacts in Son La province, where seven fatalities were recorded, and in Dien Bien province with two deaths. The capital city of Hanoi also reported one casualty.

State media have illustrated the gravity of the situation with photos depicting floodwaters reaching the rooftops of hundreds of homes in Dien Bien Bien province and causing substantial damage to infrastructure, with many roads either washed away or buried.

Additionally, the storm has severely affected agricultural sectors, inundating close to 30,000 hectares of rice and cash crops and resulting in the loss of nearly 20,000 farm animals, including cattle and poultry.

While the rains have begun to subside, the national weather agency has forecasted an impending heatwave over the coming days, posing further challenges to the recovery efforts in the region.
