Argentina: The Soaring Cheese Prices Ahead of Easter
Source: dairynews.today
Cheese prices in Argentina are surging with the arrival of Easter, driven by seasonal factors and industry speculation.

As Easter approaches, Argentina is witnessing a significant rise in cheese prices. Varieties that were priced at approximately 8,200 pesos per kilogram just weeks ago have climbed to between 10,500 and 11,000 pesos.
The seasonal trends affecting dairy production are a known factor; however, industry experts suspect speculation in the sector as the main driver for these price hikes.
Carlos Beigbeder, a former president of the Chamber of Commerce of Posadas, explained that despite a drop in cheese prices during the summer due to reduced demand and excess supply, the Easter surge has led to unprecedented demand, leading to a natural increase in prices.
Nonetheless, Beigbeder hints at speculative adjustments being a possible influence, as cheese prices had not seen such a spike during the production dips earlier in the year.
