A highlight of the report is Tetra Pak's achievement in significantly reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—a 20% decrease in the value chain and a 47% reduction in its own operations since 2019. These accomplishments are steering the company towards its 2030 goal of net-zero GHG emissions within its operations and a broader target of net-zero across the value chain by 2050.
Innovations in packaging also marked a major milestone with the launch of an aseptic beverage carton featuring a paper-based barrier, reducing its carbon footprint by 33%. This development, resulting from a €100 million investment in research and development in 2023, positions Tetra Pak closer to its ambition of creating the world's most sustainable food package.
Adolfo Orive, President and CEO of Tetra Pak, emphasized the importance of collaboration within the food industry to sustainably feed the growing global population. "Our global presence and end-to-end solutions provide daily opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders across the value chain," Orive stated. He reaffirmed the company's commitment to transforming global food systems into structures that are secure, resilient, and sustainable.
