Tajikistan plans meat, dairy and drinks plants providing 40 jobs
President Emomali Rahmon marked the start of the two projects by laying their foundation stones on November 2, according to the Tajik president’s press service. The ceremonies followed his inauguration of the privately run Idrok lyceum in the district.
The processing plant is expected to employ 25 people, while the drinks factory will have 15 jobs. The presidential press service described employment creation as important to improving the social and economic circumstances of the district’s residents.
The projects’ stated aims include expanding local industry, processing raw materials produced domestically and increasing the manufacture of competitive goods. They are also intended to supply residents with quality products.
The presidential press service said bringing the facilities into operation would support the district’s industrial capacity and create economic opportunities. It also said their output could help satisfy domestic demand for meat, dairy products and soft drinks while reducing reliance on imports.
Rahmon directed the officials responsible for the projects to give particular attention to the quality of construction and ensure completion according to schedule. The projects come as Tajikistan pursues accelerated industrialisation, focusing on increased domestic manufacturing and greater use of local raw materials.
