Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Strengthen Cooperation in Livestock and Agro-Exports

The Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister Mushokir Nazarzoda and a delegation from Kyrgyzstan, led by Umrat Takirov, Director of the Center for Export Development under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Strengthen Cooperation in Livestock and Agro-Exports

The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, particularly in livestock development, veterinary services, and the trade of agricultural products including hides, wool, meat, animal feed, eggs, and milk. Representatives of leading Tajik processing enterprises, including Marmari JSC, Akoma JSC, and the Dushanbe Dairy Plant, also participated in the talks.

Special emphasis was placed on establishing sustainable trade channels for agricultural products between the two countries. Both sides expressed their commitment to deepening the partnership and sharing best practices in both livestock and crop production.

According to the Statistics Department of Sughd Region, cross-border trade between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan reached USD 2.4 million during January–April 2025—28 times higher than in the same period of 2024. Exports from Batken Region to Sughd totaled USD 917,000, while imports amounted to USD 1.4 million.

Tajikistan's Ministry of Agriculture noted that the meeting was held in a spirit of mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for the continued expansion of interstate cooperation in the agricultural sector.
