By 2032, the United States will be able to increase its cow population and average milk yield, which will strengthen its position as a leader in the global dairy industry. Dr. Lee Ann Jackson, head of the Department of Agriculture at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, told The DairyNews correspondent during the World Dairy Summit, held in Chicago from October 15 to 19.

According to Ms. Jackson, the United States will increase average milk yield by 0.9% by 2032 and increase its livestock population by 0.3%.
Milk production will also increase significantly in China, where milk yield will also increase by 0.8% and the number of cows will increase by 0.4%.
On the contrary, the following countries will continue to move towards reduction in livestock numbers: New Zealand (-0.1%), Australia (-0.4%), Russia (-0.5%) and the European Union (-0.95%).
