Spotlight on Dairy Diversity at Derrinsallow Herd Focus Farm Walk

The Irish Holstein Friesian Association (IHFA) is hosting a Focus Farm Walk at the award-winning Derrinsallow Herd near Birr, Co. Offaly, on Wednesday, August 13. This free event is open to all and promises to provide a unique insight into the diversity, innovation, and resilience of IHFA breeder herds. Attendees can look forward to witnessing top-class Holstein Friesian genetics in action, interacting with industry leaders, and connecting with fellow farmers navigating the evolving dairy landscape.

A key highlight will be meeting the 2025 IHFA Focus Farmers, who showcase success in dairy farming through various approaches. The Focus Farmers include Jim and Brenda Murray, hosts of the event, and five other successful dairy enterprises. Each farmer shares a commitment to healthy, fertile cows, long-term performance, and sustainable family-focused systems.

The event features panels where each Focus Farmer shares experiences and insights into tackling challenges in modern dairy farming. Additional highlights include a classification demonstration by IHFA, guest speakers from MSD and Teagasc, and trade stands offering tools and products for herd and business development. This event is an excellent opportunity for both newcomers and experienced breeders to gather valuable insights into the future of Irish dairy farming.
