Spanish Dairy Industry Reaches Labor Agreement for 2025-2028
On December 22, 2025, labor unions and employers in the Spanish dairy industry signed a new labor agreement, known as the Convenio de Industrias Lácteas, covering the period from 2025 to 2028. This agreement introduces several key changes aimed at improving working conditions for employees in the sector.
The agreement stipulates an increase in wages for workers, alongside a reduction in the standard working hours. This move is expected to align the dairy industry's practices with modern labor standards, ensuring better work-life balance for its workforce.
Additionally, the agreement includes a review clause, which ensures that the terms can be revisited and adjusted to reflect economic changes over the period. This flexibility is designed to protect both the employees and employers from unforeseen economic shifts.
Improvements in licenses and benefits for employees are also part of the new terms. These enhancements are seen as crucial steps towards attracting and retaining talent in the dairy industry, which is a significant sector in Spain's economy.
The agreement highlights a collaborative approach between the unions and employers to address labor issues in the dairy industry, setting a precedent for future negotiations in other sectors.
