Southwest Dairy Day Will Take Place in Dalhart on September 2, 2026

Southwest Dairy Day is due to take place on September 2, 2026, in Dalhart, Texas. The programme is open to the public without charge and is centred on the dairy industry. Organisers have set the event’s hours from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The venue is the Rita Blanca Coliseum, located at 222 FM 281 in Dalhart. The event is being held in an area where dairy production is a major part of agricultural activity. Dalhart and Hartley counties account for a substantial share of milk production in Texas and across the United States, according to Juan M. Piñeiro.

Piñeiro is an associate professor and extension dairy specialist in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. He said Hartley County is the leading county in Texas for milk production and is among the 20 largest milk-producing counties in the country.

More than 80% of Texas’s dairy cows are located in the Texas Panhandle, Piñeiro said. Texas ranks third among US states for dairy production. These figures were provided in connection with coverage of the upcoming Dalhart event.
