Sommet de l’Élevage 2026 to Bring Together 1,800 Exhibitors and 120,000 Visitors in France
The 35th international livestock exhibition Sommet de l’Élevage will take place from October 6 to 9, 2026, in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The organizers expect around 1,800 exhibitors and 120,000 professional visitors, including 6,000 international guests from 100 countries.
Around 2,000 animals representing 70 breeds are expected to be featured at the exhibition. These will include 1,300 dairy and beef cattle, 400 sheep and 300 horses. The event will host national competitions for the Limousin breed, involving 400 animals, and the Montbéliarde breed, with 140 animals. Holstein, Simmental, Normande and other breeds will also be presented.
In 2026, the organizers will expand several thematic areas. For the first time, a dedicated discussion platform will focus on animal health and veterinary medicine. Additional exhibition space will be allocated to the pig and poultry sectors.
The agricultural machinery exhibition area will be expanded by 10,000 square metres. A demonstration area will also be created, allowing equipment manufacturers to present machinery under working conditions. In Hall 4, dedicated to dairy cattle breeds, the arena used for competitions and breed presentations will be modernized.
The programme includes more than 150 conferences. The announced topics include greenhouse gas emission reductions, food security, alternative energy, generational renewal in agriculture, animal health and pastoral livestock farming.
Pastoralism will be one of the central themes of the event, as the United Nations has designated 2026 the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. Dedicated exhibitions and international discussions will address the subject.
International professionals will be offered visits to 35 farms and agribusiness facilities. The programme includes dairy and beef farms, cheese-making facilities, research institutes and sites involved in breeding cattle exports. A separate thematic tour will focus on the development of cheese production, from traditional methods to modern technologies.
Around 330 international companies from 35 countries are expected to participate in the exhibition. Visitors from Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries will have access to a programme of business meetings and assistance through the International Club.
