SIG Terra aluminum-free packaging wins at the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2026
SIG and the South Korean cooperative Seoul Dairy have won the "Best CSR/Sustainability Initiative" category at the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2026 for Seoul Dairy White Milk in SIG Terra Alu-free + Full barrier packaging — the world's first full barrier aseptic carton packaging material without an aluminum layer. Presented as part of the Global Dairy Congress, the World Dairy Innovation Awards recognize the companies, products and technologies of the global dairy industry.
In South Korea, Seoul Dairy became the first company to launch products in SIG Terra Alu-free + Full barrier packaging, bringing it to Korean consumers through its white milk range. According to SIG, it is the first aseptic carton recognized as recyclable under Korean regulations.
As Moon Jin-Seop, President of Seoul Dairy Cooperative, noted, the company was the first in Korea to bring shelf-stable milk to market in an aseptic carton pack without an aluminum layer and with full barrier protection. According to Hans Cho, Head of Market South Korea at SIG, the packaging solution provides barrier protection while reducing the environmental impact of packaging.
