SIAVS 2026 Promotes Integration Across Brazilian Protein Sectors, Including Dairy
During the second day of the International Animal Protein Show (SIAVS) 2026 held in São Paulo, leaders from five Brazilian protein sectors—poultry, pork, beef, dairy, and fish—convened to advocate for greater integration across these industries. The event concluded on August 6, 2026, and highlighted the potential benefits of a unified approach in strengthening Brazil's position in the global market.
Guilherme Portela, president of the Syndicate of the Dairy Industry (Sindilat), voiced the aspirations of the dairy sector to match the export records set by other protein sectors. He pointed out that Brazil currently imports more dairy products than it exports and called for internal dairy chain integration and the opening of new markets. Portela stated, "We need leadership to show the way and strengthen the sector."
Laudemir Müller, manager of Agribusiness at ApexBrasil, attributed Brazil's status as a leading animal protein exporter to the collaboration between entities, producers, and the government. Müller noted, "We serve the domestic market, boost consumption, and set export records through organization and technology."
Ricardo Santin, president of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), emphasized the role of communication in this integration, advocating for investments to showcase the country's biosecurity, sustainability, and environmental responsibility to the world.
Roberto Perosa, president of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC), provided financial figures to illustrate the success of industry collaboration, with beef exports reaching $20 billion and total sales amounting to $80 billion in the past year. He highlighted the importance of overcoming trade barriers through international dialogue.
Eduardo Lobo, president of the Brazilian Fish Industry Association (ABIPESCA), expressed optimism about growth opportunities, citing ongoing negotiations with the European market.
The event also highlighted Brazil's over 1.1 million square kilometers of preserved areas within private properties, offering potential for increased animal protein production without converting new areas. The dairy sector's participation in the panel demonstrated its commitment to being part of the integration movement that supports the growth of Brazilian animal protein exports.
