Sheep Milk Cheese Wins Top Honor at Argentine Expo

At the Expo Suipacha 2026, a sheep milk cheese produced by Tambo Blanca Grande received the gold medal in its category. The cheese, characterized by its smooth texture and balanced flavor, was made using high-concentration sheep milk, which contributes to its distinctive sensory identity and enhanced cheese yield.

The initial production phase faced several challenges, including technical issues and infrastructure problems. Power outages and pasteurization difficulties resulted in the loss of some batches, but these hurdles were overcome to stabilize the artisanal production process.

In its first production season, the enterprise produced approximately 500 kilograms of cheese from 60 milking sheep. In the following season, production doubled, and the farm now has around 200 pregnant sheep, with plans to begin a new production cycle in September.

The success of Tambo Blanca Grande highlights the potential of value-added agriculture. The venture is also developing a rural tourism project, allowing visitors to tour the farm, learn about the cheese-making process, and sample the products directly on-site.

By focusing on sheep milk, artisanal methods, and territorial identity, Tambo Blanca Grande has transformed a declining activity into an award-winning product, gaining recognition among consumers and experts alike.
