The sheep milk sector faces declines in regional production, as prices per liter drop significantly in Spain.

In July 2025, the average price of "standard" sheep milk in Spain was €1.198 per liter, reflecting a 15.34% decline compared to July 2024, when the price was €1.415. Particularly, Castilla-La Mancha experienced a more significant reduction of 27.4%, while Castilla y León saw a drop of 5.6%. National quality pricing fell to €10.55 per hectogram, decreasing by 15.26% year-on-year. Sheep milk production also receded, with 46.1 million liters milked, marking a 7.16% decrease compared to 49.7 million liters in the previous year. For the campaign up until July, the total production fell by approximately 3.7%. Castilla y León's cumulative decrease stood at 4.5%, with Castilla-La Mancha seeing a 1.4% drop. Monthly production declines were logged at 3.34% and 3.09% for Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha respectively. The persistent trend of falling prices and production raises concerns over the economic viability for producers, particularly in regions requiring sustainable prices to maintain operations
