Sedarpa Delivers Specialized Milk Transport to 70 Veracruz Farmers
Veracruz’s Secretariat of Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development, known as Sedarpa, distributed specialized collection and transport equipment to 70 milk producers in the state. The initiative is part of state efforts to update livestock infrastructure, support small and medium-sized farming organizations and maintain the operation of dairy-producing areas across Veracruz.
The package includes tanker vehicles and stainless-steel insulated tanks. These units are designed to keep milk chilled between farms and the cooling centres or processing plants where it is received. The stated purpose is to limit bacterial growth and premature souring in raw milk during transit.
Maintaining the cold chain also allows the raw material to retain its physical and chemical characteristics, including appropriate butterfat and protein levels. The equipment is intended to help milk meet the food-safety requirements applied by the formal agro-industrial sector.
The state government said that producer-owned, technically equipped transport can reduce reliance on conventional freight services and logistics intermediaries. Directly consolidating milk collected during milking rounds is also intended to reduce losses caused by rejected product and give farming families access to more favourable payment arrangements per litre.
The delivery is expected by the authorities to support the supply of fresh liquid milk to Veracruz’s artisanal and semi-industrial cheese industry. Regular deliveries in hygienic condition can improve output in cheese vats and help standardise products such as string cheese, fresh cheese and aged cheese, according to the state’s account of the programme.
Sedarpa presented the measure as part of policies supporting food self-sufficiency and productive development in Veracruz. The state said the logistics equipment is suited to the climatic conditions of the tropics and linked the programme to continued participation by rural families in farming activities. The initiative was reported by the Government of the State of Veracruz.
