Sebrae-RN Launches Hub to Transform Dairy Industry Through Collaboration
The Hub do Leite, launched by Sebrae-RN and the Laboratory of Milk Quality (Laboleite) at the Agricultural School of Jundiaí of UFRN, aims to transform the dairy industry in Rio Grande do Norte. This initiative seeks to address the lack of integration within the sector by fostering collaboration among producers, cheesemakers, agro-industries, researchers, consultants, and support institutions.
Unlike traditional approaches that focus on isolated technical solutions, the Hub do Leite emphasizes building connections between technical knowledge, management, professional qualification, and market access. This strategy is expected to enhance milk quality and the competitiveness of the dairy chain.
The project emerged from discussions led by the Local Agro Innovation Ecosystem (Eli Agro), which identified fragmented support actions within the dairy industry. By creating a common agenda, the hub aims to translate technical knowledge into tangible results for both the field and industry.
A key component of the Hub do Leite is bridging the gap between research and production. Laboleite contributes technical expertise through laboratory analyses, quality initiatives, animal health actions, and specialized producer support. This effort seeks to align academic knowledge with the real-world challenges faced by rural properties.
The initiative is particularly relevant for small and medium-sized producers who form the majority of the supply chain. Access to qualified information, training, and technical support can significantly improve efficiency and market adaptation for these producers.
Beyond diagnostics, training, and development projects, the Hub do Leite aims to establish a sustainable governance model for the dairy sector. It seeks to create a continuous environment for collective development, aligning interests and promoting shared solutions for industry challenges.
This movement suggests that the competitiveness of the dairy sector in Rio Grande do Norte is not solely dependent on technological innovation but also on the ability to connect people, institutions, and knowledge towards common goals.
