Scotland Office Minister John Lamont has visited Dumfries and Galloway to observe how digital innovation, supported by over £21 million of UK Government investment, is contributing to the growth of the rural economy.
The visit included a tour of Scotland's Rural College (SRUC) Barony Campus to understand the impact of UK Research and Innovation's (UKRI) funding on the Digital Dairy Chain, aimed at supporting the milk industry.

The UK Government's investment in the Digital Dairy Chain is part of its commitment to support the UK's £127 billion food and farming sector, promoting sustainability and innovation in dairy processing. The five-year project is expected to create over 600 jobs and contribute £60 million to the local economy by attracting large dairy processors and fostering industry-focused research.
